After trying numerous colors over the years, I’ve narrowed it down to just 10 colors that I need in my arsenal of acrylic paints. I show you everything you need to know and how to mix them!

Quinacridone Magenta:
Green Gold (For foliage):

*Edit* Primary cyan is a mixture of phthalo blue (green shade) and white. here are a couple phthalo blues if you prefer to mix:

I don’t like liquitex’s ultramarine blues

Golden Paints –
Green Gold:
Titanium White:
Napthol Red:
Cadmium Yellow:
Ultramarine Blue:
Quinacridone Magenta:
No burnt umber in goldens and I don’t like their orange.

Green Gold:
Titanium White:
Cadmium Red:
Cadmium Yellow:
Burnt Umber:
Ultramarine Blue:
Cadmium Orange:
Quinacridone Magenta:

  1. Flash back to susan savages acrylic painting 1 class. We weren’t even allowed burnt umber! Nor ANY pre made green…. We used this brand of paint. Class requirement was this brand

  2. I bought some of the colors you mentioned and followed your example of mixing some of the colors, but didnot succeed in making the bright and vibrant colors you made! All my colors are more dull and darker, it’s a pity because I love the beaming colors of you in this video.

  3. Hi, I’m hoping you can answer my question….will your 3 extra colours you mentioned work well if mixed with a medium quantity student grade acrylics. Thanks in advance for any help.
